Ruby on Rails Developer

You will deliver well-designed features, proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, recognize opportunities for improvement leaving code better than you found it. salary: EUR 4,500 to EUR 5,500 gross team: IT location: Riga, Latvia We are looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer who enjoys solving complex problems, building useful features, and leaving code better than they found it. The role is 90–95% back-end, with occasional front-end adjustments. You’ll work closely with our Product Owner, Test, and Support teams, balancing thoughtful technical decisions with practical business needs. your responsibilities • Deliver well-designed features and maintainable solutions backed by automated tests • Provide realistic estimates, manage your time well, and take ownership of delivery, raising risks early • Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, leaving the code you touch cleaner and easier to maintain • Recognize opportunities for improvement and drive practical changes while balancing business priorities • Work with technical and business stakeholders on solutions that meet immediate needs and support long-term project health • Participate in peer code reviews • Support testing and help resolve production issues alongside our Test and Support teams what we're looking for • 3+ years of Ruby on Rails experience, delivering and maintaining production applications • Confidence working with complex business logic and a substantial legacy codebase, including fluency in Ruby 2.7 and Rails 5.x, and familiarity with newer versions • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, including query optimization • Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs • Experience with automated testing using RSpec • A solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns, with the judgment to apply them pragmatically • Enough HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery) and CoffeeScript knowledge to make occasional front-end changes • Hands-on experience using AI development tools to improve productivity and quality, with the technical judgment to understand and validate their output and take responsibility for the code you deliver • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and a willingness to keep learning and adapt to new tools and ways of working • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken Will be considered an advantage: • Experience with payments, billing, invoicing, or financial services • Experience developing SaaS applications • Familiarity with CI/CD • Experience with Docker or Kubernetes • Hands-on experience upgrading Ruby and Rails applications what we offer • Monthly salary 4500 EUR - 5500 EUR gross depending on your experience and qualifications • Performance-based annual bonus • Health insurance from Day 1 • Hybrid work model (1 office day per week) and flexible working hours • Learning, development, and career growth opportunities across an international company • Active social agenda with team events and company initiatives Vakance no Eleving Group karjeras lapas.
